Finding cabin rentals near Southern Illinois University is not a problem. There are several fantastic Carbondale cabins for rent within a few minutes’ drive to SIU campus. However there are a few things to keep in mind when renting a cabin to visit SIU. First, if this is for parents weekend, graduation, sporting event or other special annual event BOOK EARLY! Many of the Carbondale cabins fill up eight to nine months ahead of time. Second, try to book a cabin just south of Carbondale along 51 south as it is usually easy access to get in and out of campus during busy times. This will also put you closer to the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail and several of Shawnee National Forest (West) hikes. Finally we highly recommend giving yourself enough time to try the Shawnee Bluffs Canopy Tour zip line. It is a fantastic time!
